Many of you might not remember this but way back in 2011. I started working on what was essentially going to be a Sci-Fi Fantasy Web Comic series called "Avalice Assassin".
The comic was set in Emerald Garden City. The Capital of "Avalice Kingdom" and set in the same universe, world, and era as the current game project "D-Resonate Sonata of the Phantasm". And was centered around a young laid-back and easy going Knight named Avaleese Sturm. Who over sleeps after stopping to take a nap on the day of her graduation from Avalice Academy. When she awakens later that night. She soon discovers that she's late and rushes off to the castle, where the ceremony is being held. Only to discover that she has been framed for the murder of King Adeline Avalice! Now forced to flee from her home town with the help of Wallace Erde, a traveling merchant. Avaleese sets out on a journey across Avalice Kingdom, searching for clues regarding the death of the King. And to not only clear her name, but also get her honor back as well.
I mentioned in a Chat room to a user that the comic was going to start in 2014. Two years later then planned. Only now we are almost halfway through 2014 and I haven't mentioned anything about the web comic. And well there's a reason for that. At first I was going to do this quitely but then I rememberd all of those times. Where an obscure and favorite comic of mine would vanish without a trace. Leaving me to guess what happened. I didn't want that to happen to Avalice Assassin. Because while it's unlikely that this comic interested that many people. There's still a chance that there are a small few of you who might have been looking forward to this for various reasons. So it's only fare for that unknown few to know what happen to this webcomic and our heroine "Avaleese Sturm".
The Avalice Assassin Web Comic... has been canceled, for a few reasons.
1. Back in 2011, I had the plot direction, begining, climax, and ending planned for it. But was having a hellish time coming up with the actually meat of the story. And slowly began to realize that I may be trying to write a story that was at the time (and probably still is) beyond my abilities as a writer. Rather or not that was true didn't matter. As doubt in my own abilities was starting to kick in.
2. Mischief Knights. After that fell apart in 2012. I wasn't has excited about making another story as I was when I started working on that back in 2008. And was more concerned with trying to at least salvage the characters. Which as you all know I was eventually able to do with the current game project. "D-Resonate Sonata of the Phantasm". Which brings me to the 3rd reason. The final nail in this web comic's coffin.
3. The game project pretty much takes up most of my free time. And while I do take breaks from it to protect my interests and rest as much as possible. I'm normally not in the mode to start drawing comic strips. Since the game is now going to be require even more of my time. And since I now have another person working on the game with me. (an old pal from my High School days) I really don't have time to work on much else. Not to mention the other project I have planned after "D-Resonate Sonata of the Phantasm" which I can't wait to get started on. It's very much different from what you folks are use to seeing from me.
So there you have it. the reasons why the comic was canned. But that doesn't mean that Avalice Assassin as an IP is dead. I will revive this story at a later point in life. As a Game instead, and likely my first attempt at making an RPG/JRPG.
Also you all will still see me draw Avaleese from time to time along with some of the other planned characters. She's still one of my favorite designs after all. Just not as frequently. With that out of the way, time to get back to work.

Plans for the Future
So out of curiosity. I decided to sit down and math out how long it would take to tell the story of Alterria the way I wanted to. Not counting "Advent Moon" and "Prelude of the Phantasm", there are 6 story arcs planned. Each intended to be 12 chapters long. A Chapter is 20 pages long. Currently I'm releasing 2 pages per week. there are 52 weeks in a year so at most. That's 104 pages a year assuming I never missed 2 per week. That's 5 Chapters and 4 pages a year. Alterria counting "Prelude of the Phantasm" and Advent Moon. Would take 74 Chapters + the 30 pages of Advent Moon to complete. That's 1510 page! It would take me 15 years to complete this story. I'd be 50 by the Time I finished! But if I went and slashed those arcs down to 6 Chapters each. It would take me only 8 years to complete it. I've got a lot of thinking to do about how to handle this because I still want to make games. And have been working on conceptualize a new smaller project. My advice to anyone reading
Status Update Page 9
Page 9 for Subscribers will be pushed to early/mid Monday. Mainly because things are still a bit uneven for me. And I don't want to rush a page again. Nothing good really comes from that. Tuesday/Thursday public updates however are finally back to normal. So those will be on time. Also, because I redid that page and Page 10 entirely. To reduce the number of Panels. Because OG Page 9 was... really cluttered. And Page 10 had redundant panels that I was able to cut.
Status Update for Alterria
CH1 Page 8 is going to be a day late for subs. But the Tuesday Upload will still be on time. I might do a 1 week break around Page 20 to build the backlog of pages for Chapter 2 up. A bit early to say this but I don't think I'll be able to get extra pages done over the next few months. Maybe that'll change but for now, I'm not sure if I'll able to. So better to play it safe and just plan ahead for the break.
So about the Subs and Patreon...
After 15 years, there's a lot of things I'm still figuring out in the art/webcomic world. I never knew it's actually pretty disrespectful to have patreon/subs so early in a comics run. In my case 33 pages into Alterria. I also began to realize that Alterria having different titles for it's different story arcs. might be causing confusion. I hoped the pages being linked together would help but I get the feeling most people don't read descriptions. Between that and Alterria Adven Moon's horrifically bad start. I don't know how to fix the current mess. I'm gonna have to ask around to try and get advice on what to do next. In the meantime. I'm going to stop advertising my patreon and subs. I think prints might be ok, but I'm really worried that might be an issue too. I need to figure out a new approach to fix my financial issues. It's been hell trying to find work anywhere that doesn't require a car, or relocation. And I'm running out of time.
